Time goes fast and things change in a blink of an eye. New trends come along and we have to decide whether going with them or staying out with tradition as it is. Back in the days, the father would meet the bride once she was ready, share a special moment with her and walk her down the aisle to give her away to her soon to be husband.
Planning a Wedding nowadays is a little different. As we said, traditions are constantly evolving and what used to be considered “rules”, today might be just an option depending on what you really want to experience on your special day.
Instead of focusing on the father giving away the bride -which still is a very important part of the Wedding Ritual– today weddings are more about the couple and their vision of the perfect day. After all it is their Wedding Day, their whole new beginning together. Traditions have evolved a bit, and among other new moments of your Wedding Day, today we have what we call the “First Look”.
We know each couple is different, so when it comes to planning a wedding there is nothing written in stone. We want to get into detail regarding every aspect of this beautiful moment helping you discover if it fits your vision and together creating the perfect timeline for your Wedding Day. After all it is our delight to give you what you need to have The Best Day Ever!
Sometimes it is the groom waiting for the bride, she comes from behind tapping his shoulder for him to turn around and be totally “wowed” by her. Perhaps it is the two of you, back to back to turn around at the same time getting a double surprise. Anyway you decide to do it, it is a magical moment designed to be shared only between the two of you.
With a First Look well planned, there will be no rush about getting to the next step of the wedding, as if it would if you walk down the aisle, reaching to him and immediately having to start with the ceremony. The bride and groom can take as much time as they need to treasure that moment together and even share a couple vows making it as romantic as they envisioned.
You forget about nerves, fears or even possible emotional tears, getting the chance of retouching your make up one last time before the actual ceremony -if necessary. This way you make sure that after sharing such an intimate moment with your significant other, you will still look incredible while walking down the aisle in front of all your guests.
With a first look you find privacy to share a special moment with no one else looking, no phones, no cameras -except your professional photographer’s. This being said, we can add that doing a first look gives you more photo memories! Either way you are going to get your photos of the bride as she walks into the ceremony and the groom watching her getting closer and closer, and it will be an emotional moment. With a first look you can still have beautiful portraits with total control of the scene -the place, lighting, redoing specific shots- and the chance to capture emotions in a much easier and pure way, something that during the ceremony becomes a little bit more complicated.
Talking about photos, you can take this time to include your couple and family shots making sure that you have good light. Instead of doing the photos after the ceremony, you can do it prior. Just have a group shot with all your wedding group after the ceremony is finished and enjoy the cocktail time and appetizers with all of them after it.
When a first look isn’t really your style, what would you think about something more subtle, getting ready together, sharing a special moment and once you are looking sharp, taking the needed time for some styled photoshoot.
Some thoughts you have to keep in mind when considering having a First Look:
- It is an extra step on your Wedding Day. You will have to start getting ready just a bit earlier.
- It could be a good way of getting rid of nerves and having a moment alone just the two of you minutes before saying “I do”.
- Decide whether you want to share this moment with your family and friends or keep it private -we can always arrange a small viewing area.
- Make sure to have a good hair and makeup team, all of that will have to last longer.
- You aren’t “officially married” at the moment of the photos. Just a thought some brides and grooms consider important. You can always take a couple more after the ceremony.
- Ensure a minimum of good photos, the weather or something running late might cut time for photos later on.
